Gerry (Gerhard) Klappe got the travel bug early in life. At age 12 (1954) he and his family immigrated from the Netherlands to Canada, settling in Calgary Alberta. He returned to Europe at 17 and again at 21. In the meantime at age 19 he obtained employment aboard deep sea freighters and was able to travel to Japan, Australia and a large part of South America as well as the Caribbean. Then after getting married to Lenora (46 yrs now) and raising a son Arnold and daughter Yvonne the travelling continued once the kids left home. Lenora enjoyed travelling as much as Gerry so the marathon continued. To date they have travelled to over 75 countries and have posted many photographs of their journeys on the “The Dutchman” link on the left. We will continue to post more pictures and continue to blog our adventures for your enjoyment. Gerry and Lenora
